Degree Details

School
Concord Law School

Description
The Jurius Doctor online degree program at Concord Law School provides the intensive educational experience of the traditional Juris Doctorate degree, while accommodating the individual needs and interests of a diverse student body.

Juris Doctor (JD), one of online degree programs at Concord Law School, is designed for those seeking to practice law as well as develop the greatest range of career opportunities. This is a four-year, part-time program. Its traditional curriculum is grounded in core bar courses, but Concord students often observe that our distinctive interactive online environment offers greater individual feedback and interaction than their previous brick-and-mortar graduate program experiences. Graduates of this law online degree program will have met the legal education requirements of the Committee of Bar Examiners, State Bar of California, and may apply for admission to the State Bar of California.

Students in the Juris Doctorate program must successfully complete at least 22 to 24 units of coursework during each of four years. Concord students balance the demands of four or five concurrent courses in their integrated curriculum, while developing their legal knowledge and skills.

Juris Doctorate students meet regularly with classmates in study groups, to share experiences, and to support one another in their studies. Meetings take place online, on the phone, and, occasionally, face-to-face. According to the results Concord received from the Law School Survey of Student Engagement, conducted by the Indiana University at Bloomington’s Center for Postsecondary Research, Concord students report being more engaged in their studies than the overall group of law students surveyed.

In the Concord Law School Juris Doctorate law online degree program, students develop a wide range of skills, including the ability to:
  • analyze a client’s legal problems
  • research applicable case, statutory, and regulatory laws
  • develop an effective legal strategy
  • represent a client fully
  • understand and uphold their legal responsibilities

Additional

Graduates of the Concord Law School Jurius Doctor law degree program are eligible to apply for the California Bar examination. Upon passing the bar examination and fulfilling other statutory requirements, graduates become eligible to practice law in the State of California.
A licensed attorney also has the knowledge, skills, and credentials for employment in a great variety of careers beyond the traditional practice of law.
