Full time study means 12 to 15 credits per semester. Most traditional schools limit the maximum number of credits to 18 per semester, whereas the online universities allow you to take even up to 27 credits per year.
Therefore, when thinking about the time needed to get your degree you should think about it in terms of credits. At most colleges you will need to carry approximately 120 semester hours to get a bachelor's degree. It doesn't neccesarrily have to mean 4 years time. It depends on how many courses you take and how fast you are willing to complete them. While on-campus schools have spring and summer break, at online degree programs you can study during that time and complete more courses.
The more credit you transfer, the faster you'll get the
degree
If you have attended a college already, you can transfer credits and it automatically leaves less for you to carry out. Some universities also accept credits based on work and life experience, or on-job training. This can cut the time of completion in half.
But there is half more to go. And you can prolong it to a long time if you don't take responsibility of completing the courses successfully each semester.
Accelerated Degrees
program helps you get the degree in 12-24 months
Also, some online universities offer accelerated online degree programs primarily designed for working adults. Accelerated Degrees or Associate's to Bachelor's allow you to get your Bachelor's degree in a year or two.
